"Today's meal is delicious as well. This noodle is unique. It's the first time I've had such chewy noodles." Edmond said.
As Edmond mentioned, the only noodles eaten in this country are spaghetti. What I made today is called udon, a dish from Sara's homeland.
Sara taught me how to make udon while I was learning to bake bread using body enhancement magic. Making udon noodles requires quite a bit of strength, so Sara couldn't make them herself even if she wanted. At that time, I made the noodles while Sara prepared the udon soup.
Sara was moved to tears by the taste of her homeland's udon, which she hadn't had in a long time.
"This is a dish called udon from a foreign country. It hasn't been introduced here yet."
"I see. It's a shame since it seems very filling. By the way, Anna, you make a lot of unusual dishes."
"My cooking teacher is excellent. I've also learned to make more types of sweets, but since you said you don't like sweets, I decided to make udon."
"Ah, lately I've been getting hungry easily, so I appreciate the food."
"It must be your growth spurt. I remember my brother talking about something similar a few years ago."
"I hope so. Right now, I'm about the same height as you, but I want to be as tall as Lord Henry as soon as possible."
"Is Henry your goal?"
"Because you like Lord Henry, don't you?"
"Brother Henry is very kind. I love him."
I liked my brother more than my parents. I forgot when it had happened, but there was a time when my parents were discussing me. I was sitting next to them. They probably thought I was too young to understand the conversation. At that time, I indeed didn't understand. It was only much later that I recalled that moment.
"Anna is so different from us. Can we continue raising her as our child?"
"That's true. Maybe we should put her up for adoption before she turns thirteen. With Henry as the heir, there won't be any issues."
Considering the marquess' family, my parents' judgment might not have been wrong, but their words were incredibly cold. Even though now they seemingly love me, they struggled with my presence before seeing how they were considering giving away their young daughter right in front of her.
"I am against it. Anna may not show the blood of the Sennet Marquess family, but she is indeed my only sister born from Mother. Anna is a daughter of the Sennet Marquess family. I don't want you to do something as such cruel as putting her up for adoption."
My brother's words saved me. If he hadn't spoken up, I would have been sent away.
So, I always followed my brother around and lived my life following what he said. Even the engagement with Ed, despite his cruel words, was something I agreed to because my brother recommended it.
"So, my rival is indeed Lord Henry. I won't lose to him."
"Huh? Rival? What are you talking about?"
Edmond sometimes says strange things. At times like this, even if I'm confused, the maids never explain anything to me. They just watch us with warm expressions.
They could tell me what Edmond means if they know...
"If Henry and I were to clash, who would you choose?"
"Choose?"
"Yes."
"But if you two clashed, the engagement would be called off, so I don't think there would be any need to choose."
As an aristocrat, my answer was quite proper and not wrong. But the maids' gazes felt like they were admonishing me.
Edmond also hung his head in disappointment.
"Oh, but I will do my best to ensure you two don't clash, so it will be fine."
My brother seemed to like Ed, and I couldn't imagine them clashing, but I placed my hand on Edmond's shoulder to comfort him.
"I see, you'll do your best. Then, starting today, call me without any honorifics."
"Without honorifics? You mean like calling you Edmond?"
"No, just Ed. All my close friends call me that."
Shouldn't I check with my brother about this? I don't really understand the connection between what we were talking about and dropping titles.
But if I said I needed to check with my brother first, I felt like Edmond would sulk. What should I do? Hmm, he's my fiancé, so it should be fine, right?
"Alright, then. Ed? Is that okay?"
When I called him that, Ed smiled happily, and his earlier gloomy demeanor disappeared. I didn't really understand why it improved his mood, but when he was in a good mood, I felt my heart lightened as well.
