Prologue


The phenomenon known as "the fairy's changeling," said to be the mischief of fairies, was an event that occurred only once every few decades, which made it a legend, but no one believed that it would happen to them.


And what is normally called a "fairy changeling" involves swapping a fairy baby with a human baby. However, this time, they ended up swapping human babies.


"Hey, are you swapping human babies?"


A yellow-headed fairy calls out to their blue-headed comrade doing the "changeling."


"Hehe, isn't it fun? Besides, there aren't any newborn fairy babies around."


"What's fun about swapping humans with each other..."


The yellow-headed fairy shrugs and says, "Oh well," but doesn't stop their comrade. They neither agree nor disagree, just float and watch.


What happens to the swapped babies is of no concern to them. They have no intention of looking after the babies, they just find mischief irresistibly fun.


The more humans fuss over their pranks, the happier the fairies become.


"But one of them is a noble's baby. Is it okay to do this? It'll be a big deal if we're caught."


"Hehe, it'll be fine. Humans are different from us. They'll probably raise them without realizing. When the fates of these children cross someday, that's when they'll notice the 'changeling.' The blue-headed fairy gazes at the swapped babies with sparkling eyes but then finds another amusement and leaves. They would remember the swapped babies far in the future. Fairy time and human time flow differently, so they'll remember them much later.


The yellow-headed fairy scratches their head but gently strokes the head of the newly swapped baby.


"Sorry. There's nothing I can do about it."


The newborn baby hasn't opened its eyes yet, so the color of its eyes is unknown. Even the color of its hair is unclear.


The destinies of the two will diverge completely due to the mischief of the fairies.
